Maybe I'm just abusing the stereotype of the crusader who was, in most cases, a ruthless merc who joined on crusades to redeem themselves in the eyes of god/the church, but I don't think that kind of person would want to play a game. I agree with the suspension of disbelief thing, but the problem is when too much information is given and it collides with a person's world-view or knowledge. Again, it makes sense that you'd maybe doubt it a bit, but I feel like it's believable. I totally see where you're coming from, but first off I'd have to say it's one of those things where you can suspend disbelief a tiny bit for something like that, although if it doesn't feel right it can take you out of the experience.īut I feel like it's one of those things that most people in that position, trapped in a dark room, would be drawn to a glowing screen and try to figure out how it works instead of smashing it. Hell, give a touch-screen to a person from just 80 years ago and he won't know what to do with it. Give a crusader an iPhone and he'll smash it against a rock because the slim box shone unholy light.
